This is one of a few projects that originated from some 30 year old “barn find” walnut slabs that were destined for Iowa winter farmhouse heating. It’s wonderful that we have friends that know our passion for turning poor quality lumber into something amazing.

The customer of this beautiful piece simply requested a thick slab of “dark wood with lots of rustic character” for their bathroom remodel. We love native Iowa walnut so there was no question what the “dark wood” of choice would be. The beetle damage in the sapwood of this slab was extensive, but with countless hours of epoxy injections we were able to save the sapwood and create some unique rustic character while still fitting within the customer’s modern bathroom update.

This vanity is currently sold, but we would be happy to talk to you about creating something truly unique for your home remodel or new home build.
